Accessibility

Overview

ParkPilot is designed to work with iOS accessibility features. Users can complete all primary app functions (onboarding, getting a recommendation, managing their plan, and upgrading to Pro) using these accessibility features.

Supported Accessibility Features

VoiceOver

  • • Interactive controls include descriptive accessibility labels
  • • Recommendation cards announce: attraction name, wait time, decision badge, and walk-time indicator
  • • Paywall options announce: plan name, price, and billing period
  • • Onboarding selections announce their current state
  • • Standard iOS controls follow system accessibility conventions automatically

Larger Text

  • • All app text scales with iOS text size settings, including accessibility sizes
  • • Font sizes respond to the system textScaler
  • • Includes chart axis labels on wait-time forecast sheet
  • • No fixed-size text that ignores system preferences

Reduce Motion

  • • Animated elements respect iOS Reduce Motion setting
  • • Pulsing intensity indicator replaced with static display when enabled
  • • Other motion-heavy elements are reduced or removed where practical

Sufficient Contrast

  • • All informational text meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards in Light and Dark modes
  • • Normal text: minimum 4.5 : 1 contrast ratio
  • • Large text: minimum 3 : 1 contrast ratio
  • • Decorative text never conveys information

Differentiate Without Color Alone

  • • Status information not communicated by color alone
  • • Decision badges use text labels with color
  • • Wait-time indicators pair numeric values with color
  • • Special event icons use symbols with labels

Dark Interface

  • • Supports Light, Dark, and System-matching appearances
  • • Set in Settings → Appearance and persists across sessions
  • • Both palettes meet contrast requirements

Touch Targets

  • • All interactive elements meet minimum 48 × 48 dp (WCAG 2.5.5 compliance)
  • • Smaller elements padded to meet minimum without visual changes
